In this post I share with you my hair story, my 5 steps to achieving beautiful bouncy curls and the chance for you to WIN a 100ml BOUCLÈME curl cream and a 100ml BOUCLÈME curl defining gel, so that one lucky reader can try these amazing products for themselves. (see bottom of post for details).
I have been itching to write about my hair for ages! It’s been through a lot and I only found the right haircare range at the age of 27. That’s a lot of years of not knowing what the hell to do with my hair. I spent all of my teens and early twenties brushing, geling and tying my hair back way too tight!
Why did I do it? Partly because everybody else around me was doing it (the slicker the better) and partly because I didn’t know what else to do with my thick curly mane. I just found it difficult to control without piling on fistfuls of heavy, greasy products.
My mum always used to say to me “If I had hair like yours, I would just leave it out! It’s so beautiful!”
But at the time, I just couldn’t see it. My hair was a bloody nuisance to me. I was brushing my hair back so hard that I ended up with Traction Alopecia. I looked as thought I was bald on the sides. I hated it and was so embarrassed that I desperately wanted to wear my hair down to cover the patches. My hair just didn’t look good down, it didn’t hang right and it has a mind of its own so there was no way of knowing how it would look one day to the next. One day I might have ringlets, the next it could be a massive ball of fluff.
I struggled to find a hair dresser who was confident in cutting curly hair. Most would straighten my hair to cut it and then I’d wash it and it would be a lop-sided mess again. I almost lost complete hope and then I found Lindsey Hughes on Facebook. Curl Whisperer? At first I was doubtful that anyone could whisper to my frizz. But she had received amazing reviews from people with all different curly hair types. Maybe she could help me to love my curls?
I made an appointment, and I sh*t you not… It was one of the best things I ever did! Lindsey is super nice, professional, experienced, knowledgeable and welcoming. She promised me that I would love my hair when she’d finished. And she was true to her word. I have loved my hair ever since.
Lindsey dry cut my hair curl by curl to achieve the best style and shape before introducing me to my new best friend BOUCLÈME.
BOUCLÈME offers a range of products specifically for curly hair, they use plant derived ingredients and you’ll find no sulphates, silicones or paragons in their products.
My bathroom is now always fully stocked with the curl cleanser, curl conditioner, curl cream and curl defining gel. I only have to replace them every 5 months or so which is unbelievable because I have a lot of hair! The products do not make my hair greasy, they literally just make my curls bounce in…
5 simple steps: (this takes me about 5-10 minutes, once a week)
-
Wash hair with BOUCLÈME curl cleanser and rinse out.
-
Apply BOUCLÈME curl conditioner to the hair. I do my parting and finger comb my hair while its on. Rinse almost all of the conditioner out (I like to leave a little bit in to retain moisture).
-
Apply 1 or 2 squirts of BOUCLÈME curl cream down the lengths of your hair.
-
Apply a small dollop of BOUCLÈME curl defining gel by running your fingers through your hair.
-
Your hair is still soaking wet so squeeze out excess moisture and then leave the hair to air dry. Once your hair is almost dry, give it a good shake. And watch the curls bounce!
(On the days in between washes, I just do steps 3 and 4 if my curls need a little boost.)
I’m so happy that I’ve finally found a haircare range that takes all of the stress out of trying to tame and style my curly hair. BOUCLÈME has been a life changer for me, the hair I lost has now grown back. I have no real use for a brush or a comb anymore, my hair is done in minutes and behaves itself all day. And I can be confident, knowing that my precious little girl will not have to go through what I went through because now I can teach her to love her curls too.
I am proud to offer one lucky reader the chance to WIN a curl gel and a curl cream, so what are you waiting for?

Would you recommend this product for a little girl with fine curly hair? As a straight-haired mama, I’m at a loss for how to properly care for my daughter’s curls! (Your hair is fabulous, by the way)

Love your hair! So pretty. I have crazy long curly hair and have struggled for many years to figure out what works. I’ve found my routine and as long as I stick to it my hair is in pretty good shape. So sad that the contest is only open to UK residents (I’m in Canada) but I’ll have to try those products if I can find them here. #KCACOLS

Oh our hair is so important and it can really make you feel great, or just well not. I have horrendous straight lank hair that I cannot curl for the life of me and boy have I tried. The hairdresser does manage to do a good job though so there is hope… I am so pleased you found a great solution, your curls really do look fab! Thanks so much for joining us at #familyfun xx

Your hair is beautiful! I know what you mean about being unhappy with your hair. I’m the same. I just tie mine up so it’s not in my face all the time!

Your hair is beautiful, I am so jealous. Mine is straight straight. It doesn’t do anything. It holds curls for the whole of 5 minutes even with a can of hairspray! I always wanted curls! I suppose we always want what we can’t have! I am so glad you have found what you need to be happy with your hair! #ablogginggoodtime

I have that annoying hair type that isn’t curly or straight. It’s kind of wavy or frizzy and have also been looking for a product that doesn’t make your hair crispy (like mouse) or greasy (like a serum). Perhaps this is it, if they sell BOUCLEME in Holland. Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉
